McFarland LIONS
The McFarland LIONS will host the Southern Region, Zone 1 Student Speaker Contest on March 7,2012, at the McFarland Rec. and Park office. The contest will start at 6:30 P.M. There will be refreshments served, after the contest. Please come and support Ryan in the next step towards a $21,000.00 Scholarship.
The following Students have been selected as STUDENT of the MONTH Lorena Garcia for January, Daniel Padilla for February, and Vanessa Solis for March. These students are now able to apply for one of the three $500..00 Scholarships, at the end of the year.
The City of McFarland has answered the LIONS Call for assistance in the LIONS International TREE PLANTING Campaign. In a letter received from City Manager, John Wooner, Tree Planting Chairman, LION Dave Borcky reported that the City will plant 200 trees, and dedicate it the the CLUB Cause. These trees will be planted along Frontage Road, and extend South, to Mast Avenue.
As a supporter of American Legion "Boys State/ Girls State," we are pleased to announce that Megan Arguello has been selected as our Representative. Megan will join a host of other Junior Girls, from around the State, to woke using the Constitution to form Goverments. This is a week long experience. Selected as Alternates were, Miriam Perales and Nancy Herrera. Lion Raul assisted in the selection procsee.
